    Local vaulting athletes have had a busy season with championships, competitions and camps over the summer. Four athletes from Alberta represented Canada during the 2019 World Junior Vaulting Championships in Europe last month, followed by the Provincial Vaulting Championships in Stavely during the August 10th weekend. And last week, vaulters attended a summer camp for beginners.

  • Olds Firefighter Going For Guiness World Record

    Olds firefighter Noel D'Arcy is going to try to get his name into the Guiness World Record book on Sunday, August 18th. D'Arcy will also be raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation when he puts on full firefighting gear - including an air tank and breathing through the apparatus - in order to run in the Servus Edmonton Marathon.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Harold Northcott has accepted the CAO position with the County of Vermilion River and will start his new job there in early September. Northcott has tendered his resignation to the town of Didsbury and Mayor Rhonda Hunter hopes to see a new interim CAO in place by the end of August or early next month.

  • Olds RCMP & Citizens On Patrol Conduct H.E.A.T. Initiative To Reduce Auto Theft & Theft from Vehicles

    Since January 1st, 44 vehicles were stolen from the Olds RCMP detachment area. Almost half of these vehicles were stolen when they were left running and unattended, or with keys left inside the vehicle. During the same period, there were 64 reports of thefts from vehicles in the detachment area. 50 of those incidents alone were within the town of Olds.
