2019 Canada Winter Games Hall Of Honour Celebration

The 2019 edition of the Canada Winter Games is taking place in Red Deer and it is the biggest event for Alberta since the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. The games start on Friday, February 15th with the sold out "Celebration of Moments" opening ceremony at the Enmax Centrium.

36-hundred athletes are in Red Deer for the next two weeks for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

On Thursday, February 14th VIP's, dignitaries and special guests attended the Canada Winter Games Hall of Honour Celebration at the Sheraton Hotel.

The event celebrated the start of the games and five 2019 inductees into the Canada Games Hall of Honour.

As inductee, Canadian Olympic star and speed skating legend Cindy Klassen explains when she thinks back to her CWG experiences, it felt like a mini Olympics.

In addition to Klassen, the 2019 CWG Hall of Honour inductees also include Clare Drake, Bruny Surin, Dr. Elizabeth Cannon and Jennifer Heil.

Klassen is also attending the 2019 games as a speed skating coach for her home province for Team Manitoba.
