Municipal leaders from across the province - including town of Olds Mayor Michael Muzychka - recently attended the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association conference in Edmonton.,
When it comes to the provincial budget being unveiled this month, it is hard for municipalities to speculate the cuts.
Premier Jason Kenney told municipal leaders at the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association conference that some will not like the October 24th budget but if spending is left unchecked, it will lead to spiraling debt loads and deeper spending cuts.
Town of Olds Mayor Michael Muzychka attended AUMA in Edmonton between September 25th and the 27th.
Premier Kenney promised cuts would be prudent and thoughtful while protecting high-priority services in health and education.
Muzychka says during the conference, he and the Olds councillors had a meeting with Service Alberta about broadband.
He always gets asked by other municipalities how Olds started O-NET and how they can replicate the broadband service.
Meanwhile, Mayor Muzychka says the town of Olds is working on its 2020 budget and he encourages residents to fill out the online survey.
Muzychka says so far the town has had about 100 responses. There is about 2 weeks left to fill out the survey.
Budget deliberations will begin in December.
