A 34 year old man has been charged after attempting to flee from police in a stolen vehicle.
An Alberta Sheriff tried to stop the vehicle for an equipment violation on the QE2 near Penhold shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
Instead the blue Dodge pickup truck exited onto Highway 42 & headed east towards Pine Lake at speeds in excess of 175 kilometers an hour.
At that point police disengaged their pursuit but the truck was discovered near Township Road 271 a short time later.
According to Constable Steve Molnar with the Innisfail RCMP 'it appears the vehicle attempted to cut through a field and got stuck in the mud - the driver then fled on foot'.
Christopher Francis Quebec of no fixed address was apprehended with the assistance of members from surrounding detachments & a police service dog.
