It was a beautiful sunny day on Wednsday, June 12th as a pillar and friend in the community - the late Dot Negropontes - was remembered with a special new pergola in her memory. Ecole Deer Meadow School students, residents, family, and volunteers came out to the school grounds where they unveiled "Dot's Spot".
Ecole Deer Meadow School commemorated the late Dot Negropontes with the unveil of a new pergola on the school grounds.
It is appropriately named "Dot's Spot".
Dot was the first principal of Deer Meadow School 27 years ago. She passed away in 2017.
Dot's husband Teddy Negropontes says she accomplished a lot in her short lifetime. He adds, this was a beautiful project in her memory.
Deer Meadow teacher Lori Clarke spearheaded the project with her garden class students, volunteers and local sponsors.
She wanted to create a space for students to enjoy when they're outside, while also remembering Dot.
Dot Negropontes was also an associate superintendent with Chinook’s Edge School Division and is known as one of the leaders behind the creation of the Community Learning Campus.
