November is Family Violence Prevention Month.

Outreach Coordinator with the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society Emilie Webb says they use this month to create more awareness about family violence and educate the community.

She says they are a non-profit organization; supporting the communities of Olds, Sundre, Didsbury, Carstairs, and Cremona.

According to Webb, all demographics are impacted by family violence.

Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society supports families with short term counselling , support groups, and housing needs.

Webb says family violence costs Canadians $7.4 billion dollars every year.

Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society's main office is in Uptowne Olds.
