Farm Credit Canada has released the 5 key economic trends in agriculture to watch in 2019. Chief Economist at FCC J.P Gervais says market access is critical and there are lots of different trends that have an impact on the bottom line of farm operations here in Alberta. He says there is always the potential to see supply grow in commodities in 2019.
The old saying "think global act local" is still very relevant in 2019, according to the Chief Economist at Farm Credit Canada (FCC).
J.P. Gervais made those comments as FCC released its top 5 economic trends for the new year.
He says market access is critical and Canada will be going into year two of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Gervais notes last year for him was about volatility and uncertainty when it came to trade tensions.
Gervais was in Edmonton this month for an Ag Outlook presentation. He talks about what producers will be seeing in 2019.
According to FCC, trends to watch in 2019 also include climbing interest rates and the Canadian dollar.
