High Five! Grizzlys Win For 5th Time This Season, Take Critical 2 Points From Canucks

As heard on 96.5 CKFM on Sunday afternoon, the Olds Grizzlys rallied from a 2 to nothing deficit to win their crucial Alberta Junior Hockey League match-up with the Calgary Canucks.

As heard on 96.5 CKFM on Sunday, January 27th the Olds Grizzlys rallied to beat the Calgary Canucks 5-2 at the SportsComplex.

The critical AJHL victory pulls the Black & Gold to within 2 points of the Canucks for the South Division's 7th and final playoff spot.

Grizzlys forward Josh McNeil says it was an impressive team performance and Brandon Rude's fight when they were down 2 to nothing in the second period helped spark the comeback.

Andrew Malek and Ty Budai scored in a span of 37 seconds to tie the game in the 2nd period. Lukas Jirousek and Dylan Wells added emtpy net goals in the 3rd.

Duncan Hughes made 23 saves in net for Olds and he stopped a penalty shot in the 3rd period as well.

The OGs finish the season series with the Calgary Canucks with a record of 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 overtime defeat.

Olds has a record of 5-39-3 with 13 games remaining in the regular season. The Canucks are now 7-40-1 and they are down to just a dozen games left.

The Grizzlys will travel to Calgary to meet the Mustangs on Tuesday, January 29th.
