Matthew Kasowski returned to the Olds Grizzlys line-up last week after missing the past 24 Alberta Junior Hockey League games. The 19 year old defenceman from St. Albert had suffered a scary injury when during a practice last November 21st he broke a vertebrae in his neck.
The Olds Grizzlys were thrilled to welcome Matthew Kasowski back into their line-up recently.
The defenceman from St. Albert was named the team Captain earlier this season, but has had a long journey through some difficult injuries.
Kasowski notched an assist in his first game back against the Camrose Kodiaks on Thursday, February 7th. He wound up playing 3 games in 4 days as he returned to the Grizzlys line-up.
Kasowski has missed a total of 33 games this season. In his 20 games played for Olds he has a pair of goals - both on the power play - and 6 total points.
The 19 year old was glad to help provide a boost for his team.
With 7 games left in the regular season, the Grizzlys are 4 points back of the Calgary Canucks for the final playoff spot in the AJHL's South Division.
Kasowski knows plenty of valuable experience can be gained for next season from these important games down the stretch.
The Grizzlys travel to Brooks on Wednesday, February 13th before hosting the Bandits on Saturday, February 16th at 7pm.
