MVC Municipal Development Plan Approved

After a lengthy 18 month process, Mountain View County's Municipal Development Plan has passed through the second and third reading.

Mountain View County council unanimously passed second and third reading of the Municipal Development Plan yesterday.

Changes were made to the MDP before the readings were passed to accommodate comments made during the public hearing process.

Reeve Bruce Beattie explains why council went ahead and passed third reading on Wednesday.

Beattie says a major change they made was narrowing down the area of economic development to growth nodes as opposed to developing the entire highway 2 corridor.

Other implemented changes strengthened areas around the environment and provided clarification to assure that Inter-Municipal Development Plan agreements between the towns and the county take precedence .
