Nick Jansen - Alberta Liberal Party Candidate For Innisfail-Sylvan Lake By-election

The by-election for the Innisfail-Sylvan Lake constituency is coming up on Thursday, July 12th and the Alberta Liberal Party candidate is 30 year old Nick Jansen who does contract work in the field of public policy.

Nick Jansen is the Alberta Liberal Party candidate for the upcoming Innisfail-Sylvan Lake by-election.

Jansen says he had a very rural upbringing, growing up in a small isolated community in the northern Yukon.

The 30 year old sees this by-election as an opportunity to help rural communities - like the one he grew up in - prosper.

Jansen is running for the Alberta Liberals because he agrees with the party's core fundamental beliefs.

Jansen does contract work in the field of public policy. He has also worked with the provincial government and as a consultant mostly dealing with energy policy and utility regulation.

Jansen feels his public policy experience can help him positively serve the people of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and all Albertans.

In terms of province-wide issues, the 30 year old says both fiscal policy and energy policy are in his wheelhouse. When it comes to riding specific problems, he really wants to address the underfunding issues at the Red Deer Hospital as well as rural crime.

Jansen says he moved to Calgary from the Yukon in 2002 to attend the U of C and has lived there ever since.

The other candidates running in the July 12th byelection for the Innisfail-Sylvan Lake riding include Abigail Douglass with the Alberta Party, Devin Dreeshen with United Conservative Party, Independent David Inscho and Nicole Mooney is the NDP candidate.
