Olds Regional Exhibition Requests Financial Support From The Town

The Olds Regional Exhibition has requested a financial contribution of $100,000 from the Town of Olds.

The Olds Regional Exhibition has been in the community for 120 years.

That was part of Tracy Gardner's presentation during the Town of Olds regular council meeting on Monday, November 25.

The Olds Regional Exhibition has requested a financial contribution of $100,000 from the town.

Gardner says this comes due to a fiscally challenging environment for a number of years now.

She believes the presentation went very well with some great discussion with council.

According to Gardner, the ORE provides a venue for the agriculture community while being an economic driver in the region.

According to Gardner, the ORE has been operating on 1998 Provincial Funding Agreements.

Gardner says Olds and the ORE are fortunate to have the amount of business and attention to agriculture that we do - both in grains and in livestock production.

Mayor Michael Muzychka says the request will come back to council as a presentation from administration during the Policies and Priorities meeting on December 2nd and come back again on December 9th for debate and a decision at the regular council meeting.
