Mitch Thomson Wins By-Election With More Than 30 Per Cent Voter Support
The unofficial results are in and Mitch Thomson has been elected to Olds council. Thomson received 33.3 per cent support from eligible voters in the 2020 town of Olds municipal by-election to fill the vacant seat at the council table.

Of the 7270 eligible voters in the town of Olds, 1047 cast ballots in the municipal by-election to fill the one vacant spot on Olds council. Mitch Thomson was the winner of the by-election with 349 votes and he will become the town's newest councillor.
Chinook's Edge School Division - School Bus Fee Increase
Chinook's Edge School Division's Superintendent says a new fee of $200 dollars for rural bus riders who are more than 2.4 kilometers from their school will be implemented this fall. Kurt Sacher notes it is part of a new cost-recovery fee model which will also include an increase from just over $300 dollars to $500 dollars for in-town riders.

Westview Co-op - Another Successful Cram The Cruiser Fundraiser For The Mountain View Food Bank
Donations for the Mountain View Food Bank were collected on Saturday, January 18th at the Westview Co-op food store in Carstairs. An RCMP Cruiser was Crammed plus the back of a Co-op SUV. When you combine the Carstairs totals with the Cram the Cruiser results from Olds on January 11th, over 5380 pounds of food has been gathered up for the Mountain View Food Bank this month thanks to the Westview Co-op, local RCMP and the generous donations from members of the community.

Red Deer RCMP Remind Drivers About Dangers Of Unlocked & Idling Vehicles
From January 1st through the 13th, the Red Deer City RCMP Detachment has received 52 stolen vehicle complaints. Police say 16 of those vehicles were either running and/or had the keys in them. Red Deer RCMP remind motorists that vehicles left running and unattended present a crime of opportunity for criminals.
