Olds Spartans Drop High School Football Home Opener To Camrose

The Olds Spartans are fielding a young roster for the 2019 high school football season. Head Coach George Grant says they are still working on implementing their new offense and get everyone on the same page in order to execute properly. The Spartans dropped to 0-2 on the year after suffering a lop-sided loss to the Camrose Trojans in their home opener on Saturday, September 7th at Normie Kwong Park.

The Olds Spartans had their home opener for the 2019 high school football season on Saturday, September 7th.

Unfortunately, the Camrose Trojans spoiled the party at Normie Kwong Park as they rolled to a 56 to nothing win over OHS.

Spartans Head Coach George Grant has plenty of respect for the football program in Camrose.

He says they are a young team this year and that has shown with nervous performances in their first 2 games.

Each week though, Grant has seen players start to emerge - including one in particular on defense versus Camrose.

He is looking for good things moving forward from their quarterback and his favorite target.

Coach Grant says their numbers are fairly strong for this season but a couple more players would always be welcome.

He adds up next for the Spartans is a Big Sky Football Conference clash with the Canmore Wolverines.

The OHS Spartans will take an 0-2 record into a Big Sky Football Conference home game at 4pm on Saturday, September 14tth versus Canmore.
