Sundre RCMP Apprehend Gas & Vehicle Thief

A 40 year old man from Airdrie is facing charges after being apprehended by Sundre RCMP following a report of a suspect stealing gas from a private property located in Clearwater County.

Sundre, AB ~ On Saturday, March 9th, 2019, Sundre RCMP received a report of a male siphoning gas from a vehicle on a private property in Clearwater County.

Police arrived on scene and learned the male had fled on foot. The vehicle he was driving was located nearby and determined to be stolen.

Police Dog Services out of Red Deer were called to assist in the search for the male. Officers from Rocky Mountain House and Sundre Detachments contained the area as the suspect was tracked through heavy snow for nearly two hours by Police Dog Services. The suspect was located and arrested inside a gas well site in which he had broken into.

40 year old Brent William Madill of Airdrie was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, mischief under $5000 (x2), break and enter, theft under $5000, plus causing a disturbance.

Madill is slated to make his first appearance in court on Wednesday, March 13th in Calgary.
