Work on fixing the Olds Splash Park will happen this fall, following an investigation from administration and approval from Olds Council on Monday, September 9th.
Olds Council made a budget adjustment to purchase a new underground tank for the Olds Splash Park.
On Monday, September 9th, town council approved the adjustment to the 2019 approved capital budget in the amount of $120,000 bringing the total capital budget to $12.1 million dollars.
According to the town, in the spring of 2019 the splash park experienced a catastrophic failure to the tank resulting in the park being closed for the rest of the season.
Following investigation and a recommendation from administration, Director of Operations Scott Chant says they will begin work on the splash park this fall.
He says council has given administration to go ahead and purchase a new tank for the splash park.
Chant notes that if the splash park upgrades are not completed this year, work will continue in the spring with the goal to open for the 2020 season.
