The goal of last week's online auction for discus thrower Rachel Andres was to raise $2000 to support her dream to make it to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Auction Coordinator Joy Cavin says they were blown away by the community support as more than $4300 dollars was collected.
An online auction has raised $4388 dollars to assist discus thrower Rachel Andres from Olds and her journey towards the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo.
Auction Coordinator Joy Cavin says the Facebook auction ran from December 2nd through the 6th.
She was thrilled with all the items that were donated by the community.
Among the ways Andres has been involved in the community is as a coach at Olds High School, according to Cavin.
Cavin says funds raised will support Rachel so she can attend international track meets.
Those international meets will help the 32 year old move up in the World Rankings so she can attend the Summer Olympics in Tokyo 2020.
Currently Andres is ranked 32nd in the world and she is in the top 2 in Canada.
