  <title>Big Horn Stampede This Weekend in Caroline</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">The annual Foothills Cowboy Association event gets underway at 3pm on Friday. Saturday's pancake breakfast at the fire hall is set for 8am, the parade starts at 10:30 and the rodeo begins at 12:30 on both Saturday & Sunday.</p>
    
<p>79th edition of the Big Horn Stampede in Caroline kicks off the FCA 
rodeo season.</p>

<p>The rodeo grounds are located 5 kilometers west of Caroline.</p>
<p>Camping is free, the admission

  <title>Carstairs Cubs Win PBL Season Opener</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">The Parkland Baseball League season got off to a perfect start for the Cubs Tuesday night at Memorial Park in Carstairs thanks to a big victory over the Olds Athletics.</p>
    
<p>The PBL opener saw the Cubs post a 
convincing 10 to nothing 5 inning win&nbsp;over the Olds A's.</p>
<p>Carstairs' offensive attack was led&nbsp;by Centerfielder Kern 
Watts who drove in a pair with a first inning double - and 2nd baseman Matt Dunn 
who cranked a 2 run homer to right field in the 3rd.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;Cubbies also got a fantastic performance from&nbsp;pitcher Brad Regehr - 
the Carstairs ace gave up just 2 hits and a walk while striking out 5.</p>

<p>Next action for Carstairs is on the road vs the Irricana Canadians on Tuesday, May 22nd.<br />

  <title>Moran Rakes in the Team Awards; Named Next Grizzlys Captain</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">The Olds Grizzlys gathered over the weekend to celebrate a season which saw them rebound from a slow start to make a surprising playoff run to the AJHL's final four.</p>
    Bart Moran and Clay Howe shared the honours as the 2011-2012 Olds Grizzlys 
regular season MVPs. 
<p>The local junior 'A' hockey club handed out the hardware at its annual awards 
banquet on Saturday night.</p>
<p>Moran also won the most dedicated player&nbsp;&amp; top defensive forward 
awards.</p>
<p>As the team's graduating captain, Howe informed the crowd via video message 
that Moran will be wearing the 'C' for the Grizzlys next year.</p>
<p>The 19 year old forward from Calgary had 12 goals and 34 points in 57 regular season games - he added 7 goals and 16 points in 14 playoff games.</p>

  <title>Pro Wrestling Invades Sundre Tomorrow</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">The funds collected from Wednesday's event will benefit the Sundre skatepark.</p>
    
<p>Tomorrow night the Sundre Elks Club is presenting a CNWA Pro Wrestling event.</p>
<p>Barkley&nbsp;Carrier with the Elks Club says they were looking for a unique way to bring in some funds.</p>

<p>Carrier says there will also be a 50/50 draw, a silent auction &amp; a concession.</p>

at the door.</p>
<p>Doors open at 6pm and the pro wrestling excitement starts at 7 tomorrow at the Sundre Arena.</p>

  <title>2nd Annual Fundraiser For Didsbury Golf Course</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">Treasurer Shelly Miller is looking forward to Saturday's event featuring a prime rib dinner, a silent auction and entertainment.</p>
    The Didsbury Golf Club is having a fundraiser Saturday night.

<p>Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the Pro Shop at the Didsbury Golf

Complex.</p>

  <title>Women&apos;s Triathlon In Olds This Weekend</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">According to Race Director Deanne Jabs it is a 'beginner friendly' test for the participants.</p>
    This Sunday - in support of 
Mitochondial Disease - a women's triathlon is being held in Olds.<br />

<p>Race Director Deanne Jabs says over 300 women have signed up. </p>
<p>The Race begins with a 250m swim at the Olds Aquatic Centre.</p>
<p>Competitors then move on to an 8.2 kilometer 
bike ride on the highway south of Olds, followed by a 2.5K run on the Olds College Campus.</p>
<p>Jabs encourages the community to come an cheer on the women.</p>

<p>All proceeds raised will be donated to MitoCanada.</p>
<p>Sunday during the bike portion of the race, traffic south of the aquatic 
centre will be delayed for the riders safety.</p>

  <title>Tee It Up In Support of the Mountain View County Adult Learning Society</title>

  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">Proceeds will benefit the family literacy progam. It teaches small kids reading writing & encourages parents to start focusing on their child's literacy at an early age.</p>

  <title>Howe Heads To College In Calgary</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">Graduating Olds Grizzlys Captain Clay Howe has committed to pursue his hockey career at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.</p>
    
<p>After&nbsp;leading his underdog team to the AJHL&nbsp;Final Four during the 2012 
playoffs, Olds Grizzlys graduating Captain Clay Howe has found a place to play 
next fall.</p>
<p>Howe will suit up for the SAIT Trojans as he will&nbsp;play his college&nbsp;hockey in 
Calgary.</p>
<p>Head Coach Brett Hopfe says its been special to be a part of&nbsp;Howe's

<p>Howe played all 150 games of his AJHL career with the Grizzlys - registering 
8 goals, 53 points and 251 penalty minutes during that time.</p>
<p>According to Hopfe, Howe was everything you could hope for in a leader.</p>

<p>In 2011-2012, Howe played 58 games and contributed&nbsp;a career high 5 goals and

  <title>Sundre&apos;s Home To A National Curling Champ!</title>
  <description><![CDATA[
  	<p style="font-weight:bold;">Sundre's Rebecca Konschuh has a gold medal to show off after her team proved to be the best in the nation at last week's Canadian Junior women's curling championships in Napanee, Ontario. </p>
    
<p>Sundre's Rebecca Konschuh will be making her first trip to Europe in March - 
and she'll be doing as part of a championship curling rink.</p>
<p>Konschuh is the second&nbsp;for Joceyln Petermans&nbsp;women's junior team&nbsp;that 
defeated Manitoba on Saturday to earn the right to represent Canada at the world 
championships in Sweden next month.</p>
<p>After winning at the provincial level,&nbsp;she says they were prepared for 
whatever the rest of the country could offer.</p>

<p>Konschuh has been curling since age 9 and has been part of this current team 
of girls for 3 years.</p>
<p>She's&nbsp;thrilled to&nbsp;qualify for a trip&nbsp;to Sweden to represent her country. <br />

<p>The national junior women's title was the 6th for Alberta - its the first 
since Heather Nedohin in 1996.</p>
<p>Coincidentally, Nedohin will be the skip for&nbsp;Alberta's entry this year at the 
Scotties Tournament of Hearts which begins on Saturday in Red Deer. </p>
