Fans of The Mavericks were already excited for the band's reunion and upcoming tour - kicking off with an appearance this April at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif. Now there's more cause for celebration: new music from the band.
Nashville label Valory Music Co. has signed the reunited Mavericks
and will release an album later this year, coinciding with the 20th
anniversary of their 1991 debut album. The band - now consisting of
original members Raul Malo, Robert Reynolds, and Paul Deakin along with guitarist Eddie Perez - parted ways in 2003.
Before hitting the road, the Mavericks are set to play a private,
invite-only show in Nashville tonight, tying into this week's annual Country Radio Seminar, which takes place at the Nashville Convention Center Feb. 22-24.

The Heart Attack Grill
in downtown Las Vegas lived up to its name Saturday night, when a customer
dining on a "triple bypass burger" suffered a heart attack.
The restaurant is
known for not holding back on the food it serves. Signs around the business
glorify bad eating habits and the menu includes items like Flatliner Fries, and
Butterfat Milkshakes.
One meal, the
"quadruple bypass burger" can easily exceed 8,000 calories.
The gentleman who
suffered the heart attack was in the middle of eating a Triple Bypass burger
when he began experiencing the symptoms.
·The staff at the
Heart Attack Grill willingly glorifies bad health. If you weigh over 350 pounds,
you eat for free.
·Tourists were taking
pictures of the man thinking it was a publicity stunt or in house entertainment
that fit with the heart attack theme.
·According to Fox 5
Las Vegas, the man is alive and recuperating.

it’s going to be Howie Mandel! Is this your pick? Watch this clip to see

Robert Hegyes, an actor whose Jewish-Puerto Rican character Juan Epstein was one

66% OF PARENTS CAN'T ANSWER KIDS' SCIENCE QUESTIONS: Two-thirds of
parents admit to being baffled by science questions from their children such as
'Why is water wet?' and 'Why is the sky blue?' Just under a quarter - 24 percent
of a survey of 2,000 parents - admit to being frustrated and embarrassed, and 26
percent believe their children know more about math and science than they do. 21
percent admit that they make up answer -- or say, 'Nobody knows that.'
THE MOST DREADED QUESTIONS
1. Why is the moon sometimes out in the day?
2. Why is the Sky Blue?
3.
Will we ever discover aliens?
4. How much does the earth weigh?
5. How do
airplanes stay in the air?
6. Why is water wet?
7. How do I do long
division?
8. Where to birds / bees go in winter?
9. What makes a
rainbow?
10. Why are there different times on earth?
. . . AND THE ANSWERS
1. The moon can be lit up by the sun, depending on where it is in the sky. If
it reflects the sun's rays, we can see it, even during the day. It all depends
on its angle towards the Earth.
2. Sunlight arrives on Earth in every color,
but it hits particles in our air that 'shine' blue.
3. No one knows.
4.
The earth weighs 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000kg - weighed by its
gravitational attraction to nearby objects.
5. Planes lift up by 'driving'
air downwards using specially shaped wings - the 'push' from the air flow is
stronger than gravity.
6. Wet is a word that people use for liquids -
primarily water - and the way they feel. Not all liquids behave the same
way.
7. On paper, preferably.
8. Bees stop flying and birds flock together
or migrate.
9. Sunlight going through water droplets in the air 'splits' into
all the colors.
10. People decided to have 'time zones' so that it would be
light during the day everywhere on Earth - if we didn't, some people would have
midday in the middle of the night.

A cannonball fired by
TV's "Mythbusters" team during an experiment soared through a California house,
but didn't injure anyone, the Los Angeles Times reported.
People working on the
Discovery Channel show Tuesday launched the cannonball from a bomb range in
Dublin, about 35 miles east of San Francisco, expecting it to hit a target made
of trash cans.
Instead, the
cannonball zipped through a house 700 yards away, leaving a 10-inch hole in the
bedroom wall as the homeowners slept, then struck the roof of another house and
bounced across four lanes of traffic before finally crashing through the window
of a parked minivan, the Times said.
No injuries were
reported.
The newspaper said
the show was researching whether materials other than cannonballs are effective
weapons when fired from a cannon.
There was no word on
whether stars Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage were part of the
incident.

Wendel Clark's moustache shave listed as one of Movember Canada's "Top Mo
Moments" of the month
MLSE players, coaches and staff finished sixth in the world in Movember
fundraising
When Wendel Clark announced this past October
that he would be shaving his iconic moustache in support of Movember, it was
assumed that the actual event would garner significant attention. As it turns
out, Clark's in-game shave at Air Canada Centre on October 29 made Movember
Canada's list of 'Top Mo Moments' for 2011. The shave kicked of Maple Leaf
Sports & Entertainment's (MLSE) Movember campaign and served as an
inspiration to the 206-member MOple Leaf Sports team.
The MOple Leaf Sports Movember team, comprised of players, coaches and staff
throughout the company, raised more than $115,000 and finished the campaign
ranked fourth in Canada and sixth globally. The team was a member of the NHL
Network which raised over $213,000, good for 17th on the list of
networks globally.
In addition to the Wendel Clark shave and the organization's fundraising
efforts, MLSE's Movember campaign also included a special Movember Awareness
Night during the Leafs' November 15 game versus the Phoenix Coyotes. Movember
co-founder and CEO, Adam Garone, the Movember Canada team and Leafs Alumni
cancer survivors Mike Pelyk and Walt McKechnie were all on hand for the
Awareness Night, which saw special Movember themed in-arena entertainment and
contests all aimed at raising awareness both in the arena and with viewers at
home.
The final roster of MLSE athletes, coaches and personalities that
participated in Movember included:
- Brian Burke
- Ron Wilson
- Rob Zettler
- Dwane Casey
- Jay
Tirano
- Jim Brennan
- Paul Hendrick
- Dion Phaneuf
- Tim Connolly
- John-Michael

About Movember
Movember is the month formerly known as November,
when men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds
for men's health issues--specifically, prostate cancer. Men grow a Mo
(moustache) for 30 days to become walking, talking billboards for men's health.
Prostate cancer is a disease that is 90% curable if caught in time. 1 in 7
men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Occurrences of
prostate cancer in men are comparable to the rates of breast cancer in women.

Ten Canine
Commandments
I found a cute poster
with "Ten Canine Commandments”. I thought the dog owners among us might like
it.
1.My life is likely to
last ten to fifteen years. Any separation from you will be painful to
me. Remember that before you buy me.
2.Give me time to
understand what you want from
me.
3.Place your trust in
me.
It is crucial to my well-being.
4.Don’t be angry with
me
for long and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your
entertainment and your friends. I only have you.
5.Talk to me
sometimes. Even if I don’t
understand your words, I understand your voice when it’s speaking to
me.
6.Be aware that however
you treat me, I’ll never forget it.
7.Remember before you
hit me: I have teeth that could easily crush the bones of your hand, but I
choose not to bite you.
8.Before you scold me
for being un-cooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might
be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, or I’ve been out in
the sun too long or my heart is getting old and weak.
9.Take care of me when
I get old. You too will get
old.
10.Go with me on
difficult journeys. Never say: "I can’t
bear to watch it” or "Let it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me
if you are there.
REMEMBER THAT I LOVE
YOU.

WORLD'S FUNNIEST SALESMAN
NEW PRODUCT ON THE MARKET: 'BACONLUBE'
Bacon lovers rejoice! J & D's Foods is selling a bacon-flavored lubricant-massage oil called Baconlube. The company said that an April Fool's joke they pulled back in 2009 announcing a similar product got so much response that they decided to make it and sell it. J & D's Foods said, "We had thousands of requests on the first day. A couple of years later, we're still getting about a hundred a week." The product, which they say is "delicious and makes men crazy," is available on the website for $11.99. The website reads, "We'll make no judgments about why you want this or what you want to do with it, but Baconlube is here and it's real for a limited time. Keep It Sizzlin'."

Former heavyweight
champion "Smokin'" Joe Frazier, the first man to beat Muhammad Ali
whose career would come to be defined by his three bouts with the boxing legend,
died Monday (November 7th) after a brief battle with liver cancer. He was 67.
Frazier knocked down Ali and won by decision after 15 rounds in what was dubbed
the "Fight of the Century" in March 1971. He lost a rematch against Ali in in
1974, and then battled him for the final time in the epic "Thrilla in Manila" in
1975, which Ali won after 14 brutal rounds that he later called, quote, "Closest
thing to dying that I know of." Frazier was bitter for years about the taunts
Ali directed at him, included calling him a gorilla and an Uncle Tom, but in
recent times Frazier had mellowed and said he'd forgiven his former nemesis. Ali
said in a statement last night, "I will always remember Joe with respect and
admiration." Frazier won a gold medal in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and won the
heavyweight title in 1970 by beating Jimmy Ellis. His reign lasted for
four fights, including the first bout against Ali, until he was beaten by George Foreman in 1973.

ARIZONA COUPLE'S WEDDING CAUGHT IN SANDSTORM
A couple who had an outdoor
wedding in Arizona last month decided to continue with their ceremony after a
sandstorm hit. A video of the wedding shows the storm starting with light winds
then slowly picking up into a full blown sandstorm. The groom, Gus Luna told
reporters, "I looked up and I saw this big wall of dust coming." Ironically, the
couple had arranged a sand ceremony during which the two poured their own bottle
of sand into one bigger bottle to symbolize their union. Gus continued, "You see
the trees swaying in the back and you see nothing after a while. I was thinking
'let's get it over with.' God. We're eating a mouthful of dirt and everything."
His wife Jennifer said she was upset at first, adding, "What are you going to
do? It's the weather."
Make Halloween safe for kids
Halloween is officially a week away and while you're readying the costumes for your little ones, be sure to go over safety tips for their night of trick or treating.
Safe Kids Canada has partnered with FedEx to remind parents to make safety a priority.
Among their recommendations: parents should accompany all children under the age of nine while going door to door; costumes with bright colours should be chosen; children should stay on the sidewalk at all times; and look both ways when crossing the street, including at crosswalks.
Each year 2,400 children in Canada are injured in pedestrian accidents, leading Safe Kids Canada to remind drivers to be especially cautious -- particularly in residential areas -- the evening of October 31st.

George Clooney keeps invitng people "To Go Jump In The lake"
George Clooney loves playing pranks on people, and it apparently doesn’t matter

legendary newsman Walter Cronkite, who was around 90 years old at the time.
Cronkite was invited over for a dinner gathering at George’s home, along with

Luna was a little wild orca

dolphins & some other species, there seems to be a need for socialization
with their own kind & humans! Even little orca-kids appear to understand
& distinguish people from other beings. Do adult orcas teach their kids not
only rules of survival and hunting, but some basic knowledge that people are
intelligent beings like orca and it’s not good to attack people and consider
them as prey. There are very few cases of orcas attacking people in the wild,
and none have been fatal. For more info about this young whale’s story, Click on this link for The

Study Says Guys Can’t
Remember Important Dates
A study into men’s'
memory has discovered 12% of guys don't know their mother's birthday… and that
6% don’t know their partner’s.
1,231 men were
recently quizzed about the important dates they could recall off the top of
their head, and the results weren't great.
7% claimed they could
only remember their own birthday with many not able to name the date their
friends, family and partners were born.
Anniversaries proved
the most commonly forgotten dates and while 41% said it was because they didn’t
have the dates ‘written down’, 11% said their other half would remind
them.
However, 38% of the
respondents said that they ‘always ensured’ they knew the date of their
supported football team’s ‘first match of the season’.
A spokesperson for
Grant My Wish App -- which commissioned the study -- said: "It is disappointing
to see that so many men are forgetful of such important dates, however, it is
also a fact that we are not surprised about.

Only Dogs Can Hear
New TV AD
A new TV advert for
dog food features a series of high-frequency signals beyond human
hearing.
Nestle Purina
produced the 24-second advert, for Beneful dog food, using a high-pitched
whistle, which only dogs can hear.
The aim is to attract
dogs to the screen during the ad which will in turn encourage owners to buy the
product for them.
Behavioral experts
from the US researched which sounds would have the most effect on canines in
front of the television screen.
The advert features a
dog twitching it's ears with attention as its owner squeaks a toy duck, followed
by the high frequency whistle.
The sound occurs
twice within the clip and is near enough impossible for any human to
hear.
Austria will be the
first country to air the advert on national television this week.

God
I saw this picture on
Facebook that says: "Dear God, I want to take a minute, not to ask you for
anything but simply to say thank you for all I have.”
·Without getting too
religious or specific, do we spend too much time ASKING for things and not
enough time saying THANK YOU for what we already have?
·What leads to a happy
life, getting and achieving more . . . or learning to appreciate what you
got?
·I feel that whether
you believe in God or not, we all need to learn to be a bit more grateful.
Tune in from 6 - 9 am to hear Brian Stephenson. That's me! I was just looking back and, oh my goodness, I've been in this rat race called radio for 30 years. I've moved around a fair bit throughout Saskatchewan , British Columbia and Alberta. The longest I have ever been in one place is right here, in Olds, Alberta. Going on 8 years now. So I must like it here. I can honestly call Olds home.but North Battleford, Saskatchewan still calls me back back from time to time.Thats where I was born and raised. If you've listened to my show, you know I love my dogs. They keep me busy. Mostly cleaning up after them.. I am passionate about Country music, especially Classic Country. And I love Classic Rock too. It's fun programming CKFM and our sister station ROCK 104. Well, that's all for now. I have to go read a weather forecast and give the time and find some useless information for my show about "nothing".
