The owner of Craig's in Uptowne Olds was very pleased with the number of customers who were happy to be back in their retail store as it reopened to the public on Thursday, May 14th. Barb Schwab says Craig's is a very social place so she just loved seeing people face to face and having a few chats. They had been doing online and phone orders for home deliveries or curbside pick up since March.
Craig's Store in Uptowne Olds celebrated its 120th anniversary two years ago.
In all of that time, Owner Barb Schwabb could not have ever imagined anything quite as dramatic as what the last couple months have been like during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She says the doors to their retail store were closed to the public in March, but last Thursday they were able to reopen with physical distancing measures and other safety protocols in place.
According to Schwab, Craig's has now implemented protocols for customers to be able touch the clothing and fabrics they offer to the community.
Craig's has shortened its hours to 10-4 from Monday through Friday and Saturday it is open 11-3. She notes they have a smaller staff now and the extra time will allow them to sanitize the store when they are closed to the public.
They are also still doing online and phone orders for home deliveries or curbside pickup.
