Demand Still Very High At Mountain View Food Bank, Westview Co-op Hosting Fundraiser

Westview Co-op is teaming up with Olds RCMP to replenish the food bank. From 10 until 2pm on Saturday, January 11th stop by the Westview Co-op food store in Olds with non-perishable food donations or cash in order to help them "Cram The Cruiser". Volunteer Rhona Segal says they are very appreciative for any community efforts to assist the Mountain View Food Bank.

The local food bank remains very busy as the calendar turns over to 2020.

Volunteer Rhona Segal with the Mountain View Food Bank says there has not been any real reduction in the number of people who require their services.

She discusses what type of items are high priority needs for them.

The Mountain View Food Bank is located at 5025 50th Street and it is open every Tuesday from 9am until 1pm. For an emergency hamper request call 403-556-1693.

This weekend the Westview Co-op will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations. They have teamed up with the Olds RCMP for a "Cram the Cruiser" event where they will try to fill up a police car from 10 until 2pm on Saturday, January 11th in the food store parking lot.

Westview Co-op has also put out a challenge to see which local sports teams can raise or donate the most during the event.
