Grain Growers of Canada welcome back Marie-Claude Bibeau as the Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
The Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) are welcoming the new federal cabinet this week.
Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau maintains her role as the Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
GGC Chair Jeff Nielsen farms near Olds. He says this shows good continuity with the Minister returning.
According to Nielsen, GGC's priorities include increased funding of business risk management programs and trade, as well as getting the CN Rail back up and running.
He says this follows a frustrating harvest.
Nielsen adds Grain Growers of Canada are eager to work with this minority government.
Meantime, The Canadian Federation of Agriculture is urging the federal government to take immediate action to resolve the C-N Rail strike.
The federation warns it could have permanent consequences for farmers and Canada's international trade relationships.
It says while the negotiation process must be respected, it will be farmers who bear the brunt of a dispute that is beyond their control.
President Mary Robinson says the strike comes at a devastating time for farmers due to bad weather and international trade disputes.
The federation says it represents nearly 200,000 Canadian farmers and farm families.
