Mountain View Colts Lead Northern Division Semi-Final 2-0, Heading To Airdrie For Game 3

The Mountain View Colts are hoping to shake up the HJHL playoff picture. The fourth place Colts are out in front of the first place Airdrie Techmation Thunder after winning Games 1 & 2 of their best of seven Northern Division Semi-Final series.

The Mountain View Colts are halfway to a big upset in the Heritage Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The Colts (19-16-3) hold a two to nothing lead in their best of seven Northern Division Semi-Final series with the defending league & provincial junior 'B' champions - the Airdrie Techmation Thunder. Airdrie was also second in the HJHL this season with 29 wins in 38 games (29-7-2).

20 year old defenceman Brandon Rude from Bowden was the hero in Airdrie on Friday as the Colts captured Game 1 by the score of 2-1 in overtime.

Game 1 was the first contest for Airdrie since a 5-4 win in Red Deer to close out the regular season back on February 8th. The Colts, meanwhile, closed out a three game opening round sweep of the Stettler Lightning on Saturday, February 15th.

22 year old forward Josh Gette from Innisfail then had a hat trick as Mountain View won 8-6 in Game 2 on Saturday in Didsbury.

The Colts head out on the road for Game 3 against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on Monday, February 24th at 8:15pm.

21 year old forward Caden Switzer from Didsbury explains what the Colts need to do to continue their success against the Thunder.

The next broadcast on 96.5 CKFM will be on Wednesday at 8pm when the series shifts back to the Didsbury Memorial Complex.
