Provincial Government Responds To Spring 2020 RMA Emergency Resolution Endorsed By MV County

The Alberta government recently announced $14 million dollars per month to support the operators of long term care facilities, designated supportive living homes and seniors homes. Mountain View County had endorsed an emergency resolution to the Rural Municipalities of Alberta regarding the matter back in April.

The President of the Rural Municipalities of Alberta says it is very positive to see the provincial government respond to one of its spring 2020 endorsed resolutions.

Mountain View County had endorsed an emergency resolution to RMA requesting that the province provide funding to Alberta housing management bodies and continuing care operators to assist with the compliance requirements to protect Alberta's most vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic response.

On Tuesday, May 19th Tyler Shandro, Alberta's Minister of Health, announced $14 million dollars per month - or $170 million per year - to the operators of long term care facilities, designated supportive living homes and seniors homes retroactive to March 15th of this year.

Al Kemmere feels it is a direct recognition of the resolution from Mountain View County through RMA.

He says this type of response by the province definitely validates the role of the Rural Municipalities of Alberta.

The RMA resolution went through on April 24th, so Kemmere gives kudos to the provincial government for listening and quickly responding to the important issue.
