Rachel Andres from Olds is working on moving up in the world rankings in the discus throw. Her goal is to make it to the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Discus thrower Rachel Andres from Olds continues to train and raise funds during the off-season to help make her 2020 Summer Olympic venture a reality.
Over the past few months she raised over $24-hundred dollars thanks to donations through her Make A Champ campaign online.
Andres says she sits #32 in the discus rank and is working on getting to Australia and New Zealand in February to move up in the world ranking.
She hopes to be in the mid 20's after that competition, with her top throw at 58.44 meters.
The Summer Olympic trials are in Quebec in June next year.
Meanwhile, the HC Sisterhood is hosting the annual Christmas Mini Trade Fair & Cookie Walk at the Olds Air Cadet Hall with proceeds to benefit Andres' Olympic campaign. The goal is to raise $1,000 this year.
