Town of Sundre - Curling Club Receives Grant Funding For Roof Replacement

During the June 22nd council meeting, Mayor Leslie says Sundre council extended the deadline to July 31st for non-profit organizations and charities - who meet the criteria set out in the policy - to apply for grant funding.

The Sundre & District Curling Club will receive $10,000 dollars towards the roof replacement costs for the area above the kitchen and lobby at the facility.

The Curling Club had asked for $20,000 dollars but Mayor Terry Leslie says the Grant Review Committee for the 2020 Community Recreation and Cultural Grants recommended $10,000 instead.

He notes that wonderful volunteers from the community run both the curling rink and the aquaplex.

Also at this week's meeting, Mayor Leslie says Sundre council extended the deadline to July 31st for non-profit organizations and charities - who meet the criteria set out in the policy - to apply for grant funding.

He adds, groups and organizations who wish to host an event to stimulate the community spirit in Sundre are also encouraged to apply.

Mayor Leslie shares his thoughts on how the first couple weeks of Stage 2 of Alberta's relaunch have gone during the COVID-19 pandemic.
