The Grey Cup made a special appearance at Ecole Olds Elementary School this week for a 9 year old student. Tracy Thompson says they could not have had better partners to celebrate the good news that her son Carter is in remission after battling stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
550 students plus teachers and staff got a visit from the Grey Cup and the Calgary Stampeders this week at Ecole Olds Elementary School.
9 year old Stampeders fan and EOES grade 4 student Carter Thompson got his wish from Kids Cancer Care Alberta and the Calgary Stampeders.
Kids Cancer Care Chief Financial Officer Deb Osiowy says before Christmas they learned Carter and his family were big Stampeders fans.
Osiowy says it has been a long journey for Carter and his family.
Carter's mom Tracy Thompson says the community, school, along with their family and friends have been behind them throughout this journey.
She thanks Olds Elementary, Kids Cancer Care and the Stampeders for the support over the last year.
Stampeders player Ryan Sceviour, alumni Stu Laird and Jay McNeil were also there with the Grey Cup at Olds Elementary School and answered some of Carter's football questions for the whole school.
